Because there are plenty of ingredients which are healthy and good in stomach but unhealthy if not toxic in blood. Not sure about egg nog, but even the CO2 in mineral water can be deadly in blood.
… also, usually you want to TASTE the drink. Although there ARE drinks you don’t really care about tasting …
